David Smith is an Analyst at Leavitt Partners, where he performs extensive research analysis of the payer practice, with a focus on following insurance market trends, the regulatory environment, and public programs. Mr. Smith also assists the firm in tracking economic and government budget indicators.

Smith prepares policy, statistical and financial analysis on selected aspects of health reform with a focus on the recently passed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. His analysis focuses on the trends, structural shifts, evolving models, political realities and administrative landscapes underpinning health reform and the impact of these on patients, providers and payers, as well as individuals and entities that invest in health care.

Currently, Mr. Smith is pursuing a master’s of econometrics at the University of Utah. Prior to his graduate school undertaking, Smith was elected Student Body Vice President at Utah Valley University.
