In the very near future, health care professionals will predict our individual susceptibility to disease, provide more useful and person-specific tools for preventing disease, detect the onset of disease at the earliest moments, preempt the progression of disease and target medicines and dosages more precisely and safely to each patient. This remarkable innovation will improve and extend lives all around the world.

Now is the time to incorporate genetic information into e-health records, before multiple non-standard approaches take hold. Within a decade, genomics will transform the way medicine is practiced and the market will reward and all of humanity will be grateful for this exciting transformation.

Among other activities, he proposed the creation of a network of data repositories across the country to enable more organized research in personalized medicine.
