Environmental Health
Our Vision:
Environmental problem solving takes place in the productive center, not at the emotional extremes. Extreme positions always generate the loudest voices, but decades of environmental progress demonstrate that the productive center is the place where the best ideas compete and a fair process for decision-making exists.
Leavitt Partners subscribes to an environmental philosophy founded by its Chairman, Mike Leavitt, a former Republican governor from Utah, and John Kitzhaber, a former Democratic governor from Oregon. The philosophy is called Enlibra. It’s a Latin derivative meaning “to move toward balance.” They coined the word after struggling to solve dozens of complex environmental issues ranging from the air quality over the Grand Canyon to salmon habitat in the Columbia River Basin. Two governors, different political parties, both coming to the same conclusion: balance is the key.
Clean air, pure water and safe land are fundamental to human health. We can best protect these resources and improve human health by advocating sensible, balanced and practical solutions that accelerate environmental progress.
Our Team:
Members of the Leavitt Partners team are experienced problem solvers who have led efforts to implement protective clean air designations, exchange public lands to protect outstanding natural environments and solve large regional dilemmas like cleaning up the air over the Grand Canyon or improving the water quality of the Great Lakes. They have lead U.S. delegations to countries around the world to discuss climate change, water quality and clean fuel technology. Leavitt Partners will apply this experience to advise clients about how to accelerate environmental progress for the common good of mankind.
