Washington Post Roundup on Health Reform

DSC_0125The Washington Post recently featured comments by Governor Michael O. Leavitt in a roundup of first impressions on the Senate’s health-care bill. Commentators were asked to respond if the Senate health-care bill was getting better or worse.

Leavitt pointed out that the Senate proposal to add millions of people to Medicare will accelerate its collapse. He said “Congress should fundamentally restructure Medicare rather than blindly add to its task.”

Other commentators included Mack McLarty, former Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton; Karl Rove, Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush; Douglas E. Shoen, Democratic polster; Al From, Founder of the Democratic Leadership Council; Terry O’Neill, President of the National Organization for Women; Ed Rogers, senior staff for Presidents Reagan and H. W. Bush; and Len Nichols, Director of New America Foundation’s Health Policy Program.
