No Shortage of Ideas on Health Care Reform
There is virtually no disagreement on the major goals of health reform — contain costs, cover the uninsured, bring down the deficit, strengthen Medicare and achieve other improvements in our current system. Leavitt Partners Managing Director Dennis Smith opines that to restart health care discussions, the White House and congressional leadership need to acknowledge that the current legislation falls short of the aspirations expressed by the President in his State of the Union Address. Should the White House truly open the doors to finding bipartisan solutions, they will find there is no shortage of ideas for how to achieve widely agreed upon goals.
