Dennis Smith on Health Reform

Smith is the past Director of the Center for Medicaid and State Operations at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In this role, he directed the $350 billion Medicaid program and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. Mr. Smith also played a vital role in the passage and implementation of the Medicaid provisions in the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program in the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. He also worked on the historic welfare reform legislation and the “Adoption and Safe Families” Act.
